Frequently asked questions

Synthetic base layers are usually made from technical materials like polyester. They're light, dry quickly and move moisture away from your skin fast.

That makes them ideal for high-intensity activities where you sweat a lot.

Wool base layers are made from natural merino wool. Merino insulates exceptionally well and is naturally antibacterial. It also regulates your body temperature and keeps you warm.

That makes wool a great choice for outdoor activities where you want to stay warm.

We have a wide range of synthetic base layers, 100% merino and wool blends, so you can find what suits you and your lifestyle best.

100% merino wool (Smekker, Rose, Ines, Silja 2.0, Carina, Anna, Vilma, Åkle, Kaia) – soft, odour-resistant and good for sensitive skin.

Natural wool blend (Malia, Mila, Embla) – wool combined with TENCEL™ Lyocell for extra softness and durability.

Synthetic wool blend (Alma, Mina, Live, Saga, Faith) – fast moisture transport, perfect for high-intensity sessions like cross-country skiing and running.

Synthetic base layers (Fryd, Lilja, Ella, Una, Ava, Linnea) – synthetic fibres that dry quickly. Ideal when you sweat a lot and can shower afterwards.

For high-intensity activities, we recommend synthetic wool blends like Alma, Saga and Faith – they move moisture away efficiently and dry quickly. If you sweat a lot and can shower afterwards, our synthetic base layer Fryd is a good alternative.

A base layer should sit close to your body without feeling tight. A close fit keeps the fabric in contact with your skin, so it can move moisture and insulate the way it's meant to.

We recommend choosing your usual size for a close, comfortable fit. If you're between sizes, or plan to wear the base layer as an extra layer in cold weather, you can size up.

Yes. 100% merino wool, which you'll find in Ines, Rose and Smekker, is soft against your skin, odour-resistant and regulates temperature naturally. Silja 2.0 gives you the same warmth in a more affordable wool blend.

Wash on a gentle cycle with a wool detergent, and avoid fabric softener.

Let it air dry – do not tumble dry.
