This is the kind of sustainability we believe in

From fabric offcuts to trend scarves — and new jobs for women with immigrant backgrounds.

Kari Traa is partnering with Sisters in Business, a social enterprise that gives surplus textiles new life and creates work opportunities for women who have been excluded from the labour market. The result: less waste, local production, labour-market inclusion — and a scarf you can wear with pride.

“Sustainability is about more than material choice alone. It’s about people. About who gets to be included, who gets opportunities — and how we care for the resources around us. This is the kind of sustainability we believe in,” says Kari Traa.

At Sisters in Business, social, economic and environmental sustainability come together in practice. Clothes are repaired, redesigned and sewn locally, with respect for both materials and people. Women who have previously been far outside the workforce gain the chance to build skills, community and pride through craftsmanship.
