About us

Must-see Christmas movies for the holidays

Before streaming services changed our TV habits and gave us free access to any movie, at any time, the best thing about Christmas was the TV channels showing Christmas movies around the clock. The love for these movies has not really changed, so once the mistletoe is hung and the Christmas calm begins to fall, there are certain movies we just have to see every year.

Here are our favorites:

Home alone 2

Since the first home alone movie came out in 1990, there have been four sequels. Our big favorite is number two, where after confusion at the airport, Kevin ends up alone in New York City with Dad's credit card. We love the music, Kevin and the magical New York Christmas feeling. A must for Christmas!

The Holiday

Aaah, The Holiday... The movie about Amanda (Cameron Diaz) and Iris (Kate Winslet) who both experience great disappointments on the love front just before Christmas, warms our hearts with tears and laughter. We simply love the relatable love stories and Christmas magic in this movie. Not to mention the actors, which also include; Jude Law, Eli Wallach and Rufus Sewell. We can’t wait for this one!

Notting Hill

Although this is not exactly a Christmas movie, it has nevertheless become one for us. When by coincidence, the clumsy bookstore owner William Thacker (Hugh Grant) meets the world's most famous actress, American Anna Scott, played by our all-time favorite Julia Roberts, complicated love is created. The film unfolds in the gorgeous Notting Hill neighborhood, where we dream away to London's Christmas streets and romance.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas

The misunderstood Grinch thinks he is destroying Christmas, before the adorable Cindy Lou – who melts both his and our hearts – shows what it is really about, while making the materialistic “Whos” realize the same. Christmas-morals at their best! And even though we know there have been many versions, we swear by the one from 2000 with Jim Carrey as the lead.

Love Actually

We can’t escape from this one-of-a-kind love drama that combines eight broken heart stories that all escalate on Christmas Eve. Full of wonderful music and Christmas magic. I don’t think we need to explain the story any more, or tell you about the amazing characters created by Keira Knightly, Hugh Grant, Colin Firth and Emma Thompson. It is not Christmas for us without this one.

Harry Potter

We don’t know about you, but for those of us who have grown up with the Harry Potter universe, this is pure Christmas spirit. The mysterious, beautiful music has become Christmas music in our ears, and no Christmas is complete without seeing the Hogwart's dining room in full Christmas decoration. We are looking forward to a reunion with this magical world.

Bridget Jones' Diary

The 30-year-old, single and confused Bridget Jones, who is trying to get her life in order, is an eternal girlfriend that makes us feel a little less hopeless and alone. Lots of humor, charm and embarrassing Christmas sweaters make these movies a joy to watch, over and over again.
